Description

Sourced from one of the oldest producers in Alexandra - vines for this wine are knocking on the door of turning 40 soon.  That’s some age!  Skillfully made by local winemaking extraordinaire duo, this is a brilliant interpretation of the variety.  Pure expression, beautifully refined, terroir driven wine.  Guaranteed enjoyment you bet.

"Showing attractive maturity, the complex bouquet shows dark berry, cured meat, dried herb and nutmeg characters. The palate is finely textured and generously fruited, and delivers sweet fruit flavours together with rich savoury notes, finishing long and elegantly dry. At its best: now to 2018." Sam Kim Wine Orbit, Feb 2017

"Currently on sale, the 2013 vintage (4*) was estate-grown at Alexandra, hand-harvested and matured in French oak barrels. Ruby hued, with a hint of maturity, it is mouthfilling, savoury and smooth, with very satisfying depth of cherry, plum and spice flavours, fresh acidity and good complexity. Drink now-2019." Michael Cooper

Rich aromas and flavours of blackberries and sweet black cherries. Velvety soft tannins with a sweet spice finish. Will develop well with 6-8 years in the cellar.  Hand-picked and matured in French oak barrels.  6 different picked parcels fermented separately.  Fermented and hand plunged in open top fermenters. 2 weeks post fermentation maceration. Mixture of 10% new oak and older oak barrels. Malo completed in the spring.. Average Brix 23.8, pH 3.4 and TA 7.2g/L.
