Description

"This gorgeous sauvignon is filled with tropical fruit, nectarine and mandarin characters with a subtle infusion of fresh herbs. It is succulent and intensely flavoured on the palate, and delivers lovely fruit purity, wonderfully framed by juicy acidity, finishing superbly long and delicious. At its best: now to 2019." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2016

"Bright, very pale straw-yellow colour with slight green hues, near colourless on the rim. The nose is initially soft and gently voluminous with ethereal and fragrant aromas of passionfruit, fresh herbs and lifted white florals, unfolding some chalky mineral notes, building in intensity and unfolding cool-spectrum cut grass and nettle elements. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has tightly bound, but sweet-fruited core of passionfruit, fresh herbs, gooseberries and cut grass. The fruit is aromatic, unfolding white floral detail. This has a taut mouthfeel with fine, dry phenolic and chalky mineral notes, along with fine, lacy acidity providing soft tension. The wine carries to a well-concentrated, lingering finish. This is a tightly concentrated Sauvignon Blanc with aromatic passionfruit, herb and cut-grass flavours, and dry, chalky mineral notes. Serve as an aperitif and with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2+ years. Fruit from three estate vineyards cool-fermented in tank to 13.0% alc. and 4.3 g/L RS" Raymond Chan, Dec 2016

Our 2016 Sauvignon has aromas of tropical fruit and citrus blossom which simply bloom from the glass! A suggestion of passionfruit on the nose is realised on the palate and punctuated by a juicy acidy. Scrumptiously fresh and textured the wine has an excellent long and persistent finish.

Perhaps with a little more acidity (albeit, this being too strong a term) - than some would prefer. But thoroughly recommended as being more interesting and full of distinctive fruity flavours. A 5 star value. And the Bluff oysters were the perfect companion for an informal but informed taste testing.
