Description

93pts... It is concentrated and beautifully weighted on the palate, and offers rounded mouthfeel and velvety texture, elegantly framed by silky tannins.

"Beautifully ripe and fragrant, the inviting bouquet shows dark cherry, blueberry, vanilla and cedar characters with nuances of smoked meat and floral. It is concentrated and beautifully weighted on the palate, and offers rounded mouthfeel and velvety texture, elegantly framed by silky tannins. Generously fruited and flavoursome, and offers superb value. At its best: now to 2019." Sam Kim Wine Orbit Feb 2017.

Intense Pinot Noir with a beautiful bouquet of dark forest berries with hints of dark roasted coffee oak.

Dense and dark ruby in colour with purple hues. Elegant in style with flavours of blackberries, blueberries and fresh vanilla pods. Full bodied and well-structured with ripe powdered tannin to create a full round weighty palate. Excellent concentration and length with savoury oak and a long spicy finish. Seasoned with a mixture of new and older French toasty oak.

Fruit for this wine is from a single vineyard in Marlborough at the foot of the Wither Hills with clay rich vigour moderating soils.

A delicious wine to drink now but also well worth cellaring for at least five years from vintage date. Perfect to enjoy alongside spring lamb with mushroom sauce and creamy mash.

We loved the 2014 vintage and kept buying cases. The 2015 is just as good. I used to spend an average of $40 into pinot noir, I could not think about a better value for money than the W5.
