"95pts... Brimming with plum, cherry and raspberry fruit, and leading to a long, luscious finish" Decanter.com

The palate is concentrated and rounded, and delivers terrific fruit richness, while remaining balanced and structured. The wine is both flavoursome and stylish, and is hugely appealing.

Sourced from the small wine producing region of Wairarapa this is elegance and deliciousness, it’s dangerously drinkable and ridiculously affordable. Fans of fine wine, this is a must.

"93pts... terrific fruit richness" Wine Orbit

"91pts... red cherry, raspberry and spicy oak flavours" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine

Plenty of Pinot punch in this bad boy.  Sourced from the small wine producing region of Wairarapa this is elegance and deliciousness, it’s dangerously drinkable and ridiculously affordable.  Fans of fine wine, this is a must.

"A wonderfully composed pinot, the complex bouquet shows dark cherry, plum, game and spice characters with nuances of cedar and dried herbs. The palate is concentrated and rounded, and delivers terrific fruit richness, while remaining balanced and structured. The wine is both flavoursome and stylish, and is hugely appealing. At its best: now to 2020" Sam Kim Wine Orbit

"Medium-bodied pinot noir with red cherry, raspberry and spicy oak flavours. Smooth-textured wine with in an accessible, fruity style." Bob Campbell

This attractive, soft Pinot Noir shows red berry, dark plum and cherry flavours with fragrant fresh hay and savoury oak characters. On the palate, it is soft and round, with a hint of spicy smoky oak and a long finish.

The vineyard is planted in several combinations of rootstock and Pinot Noir clones and this Pinot is a blend of some of these - 115, 114, 10/5, 777, and Abel. Each clone adds their own character and complexity. The vintage was excellent with warm weather during flowering and a long dry summer with hot days and cool nights; perfect Pinot Noir ripening conditions. This resulted in vines with a balanced crop load and the fruit achieving ideal ripeness.

In the winery the different batches of fruit are processed separately so that we can see the individual characters on their own and we add further complexities by incorporating different techniques and yeast combinations. The grapes are cold soaked for between five and seven days and then fermented at about 28-32 °C.  Depending on the fruit post ferment time ranges from three to 10 days before the wine is pressed off. The wine is then held in both tank and barrel for 8 months, undergoing malolactic fermentation, before being blended for bottling.

A great tasting wine.

Bruce - 17/11/2017

A great wine at this price. Other varietals from this producer (for me) have been indifferent but this is good. The cherry Pinot characters that I look for in a Martinborough Pinot Noir. Well balanced, lots of fruit that's going to make this delicious drinking over the next year. I'll look to buy another case.
