Description

"92pts... a distinctive and appealing wine, offers good value at this price."

"Brilliant, light straw-yellow colour, lighter edged. This has a full, broad and voluminous, well-concentrated nose with aromas of pungent passionfruit melded with layers of tropical fruits, dark herbs and minerals, unfolding subtle notes of green stonefruits. Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate is rich with flavours of pungent passionfruit melded with tropical fruits, and green stonefruits. This has plenty of presence. The mouthfeel shows very fine textures and light, dry phenolics, with integrated, lacy, background acidity. The wine carries gently to a soft, dry, mouthfilling finish of passionfruit and dark herbs. This is a rich Sauvignon Blanc with passionfruit, herb and green stonefruit flavours with plenty of body, and fine dry textures and background acidity. Match with Pacific Rim fare over the next 2+ years. MS clone fruit from the Waihopi, mid-Wairau and lower-Wairau valleys, fermented in stainless-steel with 8% by indigenous yeasts in oak, of which 25% was new, on solids to 13.0% alc. and 2.3 g/L RS, with most of the wine on lees for 3-4 months." Raymond Chan, Feb 2017

"Moderately concentrated sauvignon blanc, with sweet lemon grass, green capsicum and some lifted tree fruit and tropical fruit characters. A distinctive and appealing wine with good weight and length. Offers good value at this price." Bob Campbell

Grapefruit, passionfruit and ripe red capsicum. A suggestion of cumin seeds. Full, ripe and rich, the powerful fruit flavours are  supported by a concentrated, fine structure.

Pairs perfectly with seafood and salads and tomato, lemon and vinaigrette dressings.

After picking and gently pressing, each vineyard block  was separately fermented, with a portion occurring naturally in barrels before blending and bottling.

SECRET #3:  A portion of our Sauvignon Blanc is fermented in oak barrels to give the wine secondary aromas, smoother texture and more complexity.
