Sam Kim Wine Orbit

Description

"Ripe and approachable, the wine shows poached pear, orange peel and nectarine characters with a lovely floral lift. The palate delivers vibrant fruit intensity and smooth texture, leading to a lingering juicy finish. The wine offers terrific value and drinkability. At its best: now to 2018." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, July 2016

Beautifully rounded flavours of crisp pear and stonefruit with a hint of honeysuckle.  The finish shows well balanced acidity ensuring a refreshing mouth-feel.  Well matched with an assortment of dishes including fresh fish, lightly spiced meats or a selection of cheese. At its best over the next two to three years.

The Echo was a 104 ft scow, rigged as a topsail schooner, used to transport goods in the early 1900s, from Marlborough’s coastal Wairau Bar, to the town of Blenheim by the way of the Opawa river. Todays the river meanders through Marlborough’s flourishing vineyards of the lower Wairau plain.

A fine Pinot Gris, with good mouth-feel. Notes suggest pears…and they’re not wrong. Mixed with white stone-fruit, the balance is harmony and the finish smooth with a hint of crispness – all round goodness.

Definitely excellent value for money. Rather sweet to my palate, but it is not pinot grigio. Great wine at the cost.

Have purchased the Echo label in the past and generally been disappointed. This one gives me confidence ,at this price this one is a real stand out. I'm pleased I changed my mind and purchased it. Lovely crisp wine ideal for the hot nights
