Description

"What looks like another great vintage here, the 2015 AOP Languedoc les Darons is made from 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 5% Carignan; grapes were completely destemmed, and fermented and aged all in concrete tanks. It sees absolutely no oak whatsoever. This medium to full-bodied, plump, rounded, downright sexy 2015 has lots of blueberry, violets, and jammy black cherry aromas and flavors; it has terrific purity of fruit, good acidity and an overriding sense of elegance. If it came from a more prestigious appellation in the southern Rhone, it would go for three times the price" Robert Parker's, The Wine Advocate

And just to show that it is no fluke the previous vintage, 2014, was awarded 94 Points by Robert Parker!

"A fabulous expression of grenache from the south of France, the fragrant bouquet shows dark plum, ripe strawberry, floral and spice characters, leading to a succulent palate that is rounded and silky. The wine is fruit expressive and friendly, and offers excellent richness as well as refinement. A gorgeous velvety red. At its best: now to 2019" Sam Kim Wine Orbit, Oct 2016

Grenache and Carignan have long been cultivated in Southern France and as far as varieties go they kind of represent the “forefathers” of the Languedoc’s red wines. An homage to these traditional varietals, this wine was subsequently labeled “Les Darons”, the affectionate expression for The Parents in the Parisian suburbs where talented winemaker Jeff Carrel was born.

No expert- but think this needs to age for a few years. Hints of greatness but not quite there yet.
