Description

"Made predominantly from merlot, this charming rose shows lifted aromas of ripe citrus, apple and strawberry on the nose. The palate is generously flavoured and refreshing, and offers pristine fruit flavours and silky texture, finishing juicy and vibrant. At its best: now to 2018." Sam Kim Wine Orbit, July 2016

"Bright, light cherry-pink colour with some purple hues and some depth, lighter on the rim.  The nose is fresh and bright with aromas of strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants, along with mouthwatering notes of fresh herbs with mineral elements.  Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the flavours of strawberries, raspberries, redcurrants and pomegranate are vibrant and juicy and gently fill the palate.  The mouthfeel is refreshing and lively with lacy acidity balancing the fruit richness.  A little confectionary lift emerges and enhances the aromatic profile.  This has a rounded, concentrated core with a fine-textured line that leads to a dry, thirst-quenching finish of raspberries and redcurrants.  This is a bright and juicy dry rosé with strawberry, raspberry and redcurrant flavours and a refreshing, mouthwatering palate.  Serve as an aperitif and with Mediterranean fare over the next 2 years.  A blend of 78% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Syrah, a portion crush and given skin contact overnight, the rest crushed directly to press following a short skin contact period, cool-fermented to 13.0% alc. and 4 g/L RS." Raymond Chan, July 2016

The wine has a pale pink hue and attractive floral aromas. It is made in an off dry style that is ideal for luncheons or as an aperitif. The vibrant, fruity, berry-driven nose follows on to a medium-bodied palate. The finish is fresh and dry.  Serve well chilled.

The wine is youthful, soft and fruity at time of release. It will unfold particularly well over the next two to three years.

The grapes for this Rosé were selected off prime Hawke’s Bay vineyards. The fruit was carefully thinned to avoid over cropping and leaves around the bunches were removed to ensure ripe flavour development. The fruit was harvested at optimum sugar levels to make a Rosé with good balance and attractive flavour profile. The wine is made from 78% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and1% Syrah.

A part of the fruit was crushed to tank and held overnight on skins to extract colour before running off for fermentation. The other part was crushed directly to press and pressed after a short period of skin contact. After cold settling, the juice was fermented using yeasts that enhance the development of fruity wine aromas. We bottled early to make a fresh, vibrant style. A light fining and careful stabilisation has kept intact the full fruit aromas and fresh mouth feel. The components selected for the blend were chosen with ripe berry flavours (without herbaceous characters) and have given a soft finish.

Plenty of flavour, vibrant, definitely good value

Tasty, this is a blend on Cab Sav, Cab Franc and Merlot, so not overly 'peepy' as a Pinot Rose can be.
