Description
This Barossa favourite has in previous vintages amassed a bevy of awards totaling an outstanding 6 x 90+ Points and 3 Gold Medals… WOW!
"Flavours of dark forest fruits, plum and cocoa complement those of sweet vanilla oak, savoury spice and cedar. A balanced structure with fine grained, juicy tannins" Cuisine Magazine, July 2016
Aromas of ripe plum, dark chocolate and red berry fruit which is all supported by hints of vanilla and spice.
The palate is full silky with rich layers of black fruit, blackberry and subtle black pepper notes. The soft integrated tannin profile gives the wine a real elegance and mid palate structure.
A delicious match for a variety of barbecued meats or steak Florentine.
Grant Burge is a 5th generation Barossa vigneron. The history of the Burge family and their long association with winemaking in the region can be traced back to March 1855, when noted tailor John Burge immigrated to the Barossa with his wife Eliza and their two sons, Meshach and Henry.
The 2014 vintage produced extremely favourable conditions with mild and dry day time temperatures and cool nights producing perfect ripening conditions. This is reflected in the overall quality of all our Shiraz wines which have outstanding aromatics, ripe fruit characters all balanced by a superb tannin structure.
