"92pts... I’ve raved time and time again about the quality and value"

"Coming all from schist soils and 70-year-old vines, it offers tons of black raspberry and black cherry fruit, liquorice and dried spices to go with a super sexy, heady, seamless style on the palate that keeps you coming back to the glass"

Description

"I’ve raved time and time again about the quality - and value - coming from Domaine Lafage’s Jean-Marc Lafage" Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate

"A beautifully composed and expressed wine made from old vines, the complex bouquet shows dark plum, dark chocolate, cedar and floral characters with nuances of game and Christmas spices. The palate is concentrated and richly fruited, yet not heavy, and offers velvety texture and sweetly rounded tannins. The wine delivers an abundance of delectable flavours, while remaining stylish and structured" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2016

A crazy value, the 2014 IGP Cotes Catalanes Tessellae Carignan Vieilles Vignes is one of the best examples of this variety from the Roussillon, and the fact that it sells for a song is just icing on the cake for the consumer. Coming all from schist soils and 70-year-old vines, raised 12 months in a mix of concrete tanks and demi-muids, it offers tons of black raspberry and black cherry fruit, licorice and dried spices to go with a super sexy, heady, seamless style on the palate that keeps you coming back to the glass. Drink this blockbuster over the coming 2-3 years.

Domaine Lafage Tessellae Carignan Vieilles Vignes no flash in the pan, one vintage wonder, the last 3 vintages have all been highly score by the most important wine critic in the world:

Further to my previous opinion, I would like to commend you on the style of the latest email re 10 outstanding wines. I get quite a lot of wine emails and buy frequently. I am therefore often comparing presentation of emails etc, and think your latest is pretty good. Tony Stent

A
Terrifically well made wine. The unusual grape, Carignan, is usually only found as part of a blend, but these people have found a way to bring out its best by itself. Drinking now, but will repay cellaring at least medium term.
