An Englishman, an Irishman and an Australian of German descent... at home in the Adelaide Hills. Alliance Wines comprise Giles Cooke Master of Wine "The Pom", Fergal Tynan Master of Wine "The Irishman" and winemaker Peter Leske "The Australian of German Descent" who collaborate to produce a collection of expressive and authentic wines from the premium regions of South Australia.
The fruit for the 2014 Pugilist Cabernet was sourced from the Limestone Coast region and after undergoing the best winemaking practices to produce this characterful wine it was matured for 10 months in French oak. The nose shows an array of perfumed characters such as violets, oregano & thyme, along with glacé cherry aromas. Sweet ripe cherry fruit dominates the front palate which then develops into a more savoury wine, showing earthiness, toasted spices and lovely dried herb characters. The Pugilist is powerful and thick-skinned but a true gent. This Australian Cabernet is elegant and poised yet packed with strong, rich dark berry flavours. The perfect match for anything hearty and beef related.
