The 2013 vintage of the Stanrock Merlot is a fabulous medium bodied red wine. This wine combines appealing fruit richness with a savoury undertone, displaying aromas of black doris plums, dark berries, wild game meat, spices and roasted nuts. Soft on the nose, the effect of the oak matuartion is subtle developing silky tannins. It is nicely weighted and textured on the palate with lovely generosity, the finish lingering, spicy and delicately dry.
100% Merlot from the Ngatarawa road district of Hawkes Bay it will age perfectly over the next 8+ years.
Food Pairing: Fine New Zealand lamb, Asian duck and chicken dishes, tapas such as chorizo, patatas bravas, pimientos asados or simply drunk for pleasure.
