Description
Enticing bright cherry and red berry fruit characters are overlaid with spicy, smoky oak aromas. The palate is bursting with luscious raspberry fruit that is supported by delicious sweet vanilla notes. This is an elegant wine with gentle acidity, generosity and good length.
Lawson's Hills approach to wine making is straight forward, with the aim is to make the most of the wonderful fruit grown in their vineyards. The grapes for this wine were picked in the cool of the morning, before being de-stemmed into open topped fermenters. Using the traditional Burgundian techniques, of small batch fermentation and hand plunging. Some batches were given extended maceration on skins post fermentation, after pressing the resulting wines were matured in a mixture of oak (mainly the Waihopai fruit) and stainless steel tanks (the lighter Chaytors Road fruit).
Food Pairing: Pairs well with New Zealand lamb with oven roasted root vegetables.
