94/100: Jeb Dunnuck – The Wine Advocate
Matthieu Barret represents the future in Cornas. His domaine is, in my opinion, the single most exciting new domaine in the appellation
today. - James Molesworth, The Wine Spectator
"More elegant and streamlined than the meaty, concentrated Billes Noires, the 2012 Cornas Brise Cailloux has a
beautiful perfume of peppery herbs, beef blood, crushed rock and sweet dark fruits. Rounded, rich and layered,
with serious minerality aswell, enjoy this medium to full-bodied, lengthy and beautifully put together Cornas over
the coming decade." Jeb Dunnuck
Young and talented winemaker, Matthieu Barret inherited Domaine du Coulet from his grandfather in 1998. His grandfather,
who created the domaine after World War II, used for several years to sell the grapes to famous winemakers such as Chapoutier
or Delas. However today, Matthieu makes one of the greatest wines of the Cornas appellation with his 13 hectares vineyards settled
on well-exposed terraces.
