Description
"If you want to try a delightfully expressed gruner veltliner, try this brilliantly priced offering. Elegantly fragrant with white stone fruit, lemon peel and floral with a hint of almond on the nose. It’s focused and finely textured on the palate, delivering appealing fruit flavours and refreshing acidity. At its best: now to 2018." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2015.
Grüner Veltliner is a variety of wine primarily grown in the Austria. It has the reputation of being a particularly food friendly wine made in many different styles.
This Grüner Veltliner is deliciously textured with aromas of fresh apple cucumber and shortcrust pastry laced with white pepper. The palate has flavours of honeydew melon and juicy nashi pear with a hint of cinnamon. There is weight and power in the mouth and a fresh clean finish.
Fruit for this wine comes from a vineyards in the Marlborough region. The grapes were hand-picked and whole bunch pressed. The free run juice was cool-fermented in stainless-steel while the press cut fermented in old oak and aged on lees.
A great food wine to serve with chicken pie and grilled vegetables or simply cheese and crackers.
At its best now or four years or more from vintage date.
