Description

Real French Champagne direct from Rapeneau’s underground cellars in Epernay, France

Singapore Airlines : Served in Business class since 2014

Highly Recommended - creamy brioche aromas, rich biscuity flavours and fine bead with long-lasting bubbles

This Gold Medal-winning Champagne is an absolute beauty and unbelievable value at under $30. Complex, fine and elegant, the wine was left to mature on its lees for a full three years, giving it a delicious biscuity character and a creamy richness. A classic blend of 30% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, all the hallmarks of quality Champagne are here, with brioche and floral notes on the nose and an elegant palate which marries notes of citrus, gingerbread and honeysuckle. The wine effortlessly combines structure and finesse.

The Rapeneau family come from the Marne area of France’s Champagne region and have been specialists in the wine trade since the company was founded by Ernest Ernest Louis Rapeneau in 1901.

This is the 2nd time I've ordered this wine, when it is in stock. An easy wine to drink at an excellent price too. My husband is a beer drinker but will drink this wine. All round good palette taste, not too sweet, perfect for the fussy drinkers. I didn't find it too dry for a Brut as some Brut wines are. An Excellent wine/Champagne.

A real winner...............especially when one considers the price. Very palatable with a not so dry mouth feel. My advise is, stock up for Christmas and New Year, now!

K
Bloody nice drop at a good price. I will buy more. Always remember that champagne producers have a valuable reputation to protect and even cheaper champagne is still high quality.

C
This is superb value for money - under $30 for a real champagne that tastes pretty good. Nice rounded flavours with a touch of the yeasty/bready taste that I always look for and it's age means the acid, while there, is nicely in balance. Buy loads would be my advice - but not so much they run out before I re-order!

Chris - member since Mar 2005

B
Lovely....we bought more!

We drink Champagne whenever the opportunity arises. The Ernest Rapeneau is very enjoyable indeed - as good as many Champagnes more than double the BM price !! Will order again without hesitation.

Outstanding value!! I have paid at least 3 times the price for other Champagnes only to be disappointed. If you ever see this on special BUY IT as you will not regret it. Fresh, clean taste you will love, just don't tell your guests how little you paid.

Had my first bottle of this lovely champers last evening, was very dry and very nice. Good affordable champers for those on a budget,

Pip - member since Jan 2013

So far only opened one bottle. Didn't quite have the fizz that I would expect from Champagne but very pleasant drinking non the less.

James - member since Dec 2003

S
Just tried the one bottle so far. Definitely on the lighter drier aperitif side. Good mouth feel and moderate intensity. Subtle rather than obvious complexity, mild yeasty/biscuity and definitely strong citrus notes, but a good long finish. We tried this not long after it arrived and we anticipate some improvement in it's depth after some rest. Definitely good value for money.

Simon - member since Oct 2006

Very good value for a genuine French Champagne. Better than price-comparable NZ bubbles
