"A lovely expression of the variety showing sweet plum, floral and subtle spice aromas on the nose, followed by a delightfully juicy palate displaying excellent fruit purity and persistency. Silky, supple and lingering with delectable fruit flavours. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Feb 2022
"The explosion in interest for the Grenache from McLaren Vale has finally put these wines where they deserve to be on the international stage. And with it has come a diversity of styles from the old fruit bombs to more savoury, and long-lived examples. This wine sits someone in the middle although in a package that is designed for youthful drinking. Mid cherry in colour, it is bursting with vibrant fruit from raspberry and cranberry through to some darker, earthy tones. On the palate there are spicier, red liquorice flavours in a supple and fleshy package underscored by grainy tannins. This has your next barbecue written all over it" Angus Hughson, Wine Pilot, Jan 2022
"It’s a joy to drink. It’s modern. It has flavour but it feels light on its feet. It’s perfumed. It has sandy/spicy notes. It’s both red cherried and raspberried. It’s both sweet and savoury. And it’s good value. In short, it’s recommended" Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front,
"Plenty of regional things going on with jubey raspberry, rose petal leaf, pink salt, block style milk chocolate, fresh turned earth and black pepper spice. Bright and fruit focused with soft charry oak influence. Easy on its feet with tight, fine knit tannin. No need to ruminate over this, just pour and enjoy" Regan Drew, Vino Notebook
The Little Giant Grenache is a wine that keeps on giving. A full bodied wine that has ample weight with ripe fruited intensity yet still feels fresh. Expressive red and dark berry fruit underpinned by hints of chocolate and subtle oak. The palate delivers soft tannins and ensures a lasting concentration of berry fruit vanilla and ground spices.
After a forgettable 2020 winemakers in McLaren Vale were buoyed by what can only be described as a dream vintage. The great season was due to a wet Winter, allowing the vines to grow a good canopy followed by a cool, dry summer which ensured even ripening. The results saw not just great quality fruit but yields were up too. A great vintage for the Vale.
The southern hairy-nose wombat is smaller than other wombats but is stocky, robust and the proud state emblem of South Australia. Like the might of the little wombat, Little Giant is crafted from premium regional South Australian fruit from established vineyards that deliver character and interest well above their size and weight. Hand-crafted and made with minimal additions and preservatives, these are wines made of the vineyard. The grapes are picked at optimal ripeness, minimally handled in the winery and fruit vibrancy is not hidden by non-essential artefact. Seeking first and foremost fruit expression, drinkability and to be a great accompaniment to food. Don’t let the size fool you, these are wines you’ll want to drink.
Food Pairing: Perfect with lamb shoulder and spicy cous cous.
