Description

  • French oak
  • Peach & grapefruit
  • Créme patissiere
  • Full-bodied & creamy

"An impressive bouquet filled familiar aromas of fresh peaches and créme patissiere, baked yellow fleshed fruits, a touch of citrus then baking spices of oak. On the palate - full-bodied, creamy and packed with all the flavours suggested on the nose. Some fine wood tannins, medium acidity, a decent alcohol richness and long satisfying finish. Chardonnay fans will love this expression. Drinking well now and through 2025" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

"Rich and tightly structured, this classy Gisborne wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts in French oak barrels (50 per cent new). Bright yellow, it is still youthful, with concentrated grapefruit and peach flavours, showing impressive complexity, and a lasting finish. A stylish wine, full of potential" Michael Cooper

Hera Chardonnay is a limited edition, barrel selection from the Odyssey Wines favoured French barrel Coopers. The handpicked grapes are sourced from low yielding, dry farmed, old vine Mendoza Chardonnay. The wine is barrel fermented in tight grained French oak by wild yeast and completes a 100% malolactic fermentation.

Hera is the Queen of the Olympian Gods. She is known as the protector of women, and the Goddess of marriage and birth. Hera is usually overshadowed by her husband Zeus. However, even before her marriage she ruled over the heavens and the Earth. For this reason she is commonly referred to as ‘The Queen of the Heavens.’
