Description

  • French oak
  • Dark cherry
  • Plum
  • Vanilla & spice

"Aromas and flavours of fresh red cherry and cranberry, there's a fine mineral quality as well as a floral note with clay and stone then rose. Baking spices of vanilla and a whisper of cinnamon add complexity and mystery. Dry, floral, fruity and textured as the wine touches the palate. There's a youthful taut quality emphasising the acidity and tannins, but these will ease as the wine ages. Flavours of fruits and flowers, barrel spices and textures combine to showcase a wine tht is tasty and youthful. Best drinking from 2024 through 2030" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Shout Magazine, 2022

The bouquet is expressed with dark red cherry, plum along with vanilla and spice. The palate has dark red and dark cherry fruit flavours on the palate. The gentle influence of French oak melds into the wine and the wine is very drinkable.

The 2020 Stoneweaver Pinot Noir is sourced from the Kennedy Road in the Omaka Valley located In the Southern Valley region. The Pinot Noir vines grow in a mixture of glacial outwash soils – soils exhibiting a mix of clay and stony gravels. This wine is certified Organic with BioGro plus being vegan and vegetarian friendly.

A mild and warm growing season with very settled weather made for a busy harvest. The grapes were handharvested between the 13th March and 9th April at an around 22.8 brix. The grapes were destemmed to tank for a combined soak for a few days until natural ferment had initiated and once this was underway we added our own wine yeast to complete the fermentation to dry. Once the fermentation is finished the wine is drained out and skins pressed. Once the wine is settled it is racked into large and small French oak for 11 months maturation. During this time the weather warms up and the wine undergoes spontaneous malolactic fermentation while in oak. This April the 7th the wine was bottled.

Food Pairing: Mushroom risotto, Osso Buco, Margherita Pizza.
