Description

- Cherry & strawberry
- Floral notes
- Tangy acidity
"Richer in style, while remaining elegant and poised, the wine shows sweet raspberry, Gala apple, apricot and lemon zest aromas on the nose, followed by a brightly expressed palate offering ripe fruit intensity combined with fine texture and beautifully pitched acidity. Harmonious and super tasty with a lengthy vibrant finish. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Dec 2021
"Bright, rich berry-red colour, slightly lighter on the rim. The nose is full, penetrating aromas of deep floral, ripe strawberries, candied orange and confectionery. Medium-full bodied, dry to taste, lush fruit aromas of ripe strawberries, hard candy interweave cracked black pepper and rich floral. The mouthfeel is creamy, almost unctuous, rich fragrance of rose petal and black pepper lingers with fine-textured phenolics. Lively acidity supports and refreshes the palate. This is a lush, juicy Pinot Noir Rosé with rich floral and ripe strawberries features. Serve as an aperitif or match with charcuterie over the next 3 years. Fruit from Pisa, on skins for 2 days, fermented in stainless steel and a small portion in older French oak" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Wine Reviews, Dec 2021
"Bright and polished appearance with hues of cherry and red Aromas and flavours of sweet red cherry and pomegranate, some raspberry and roses then a whisper of turkish delight. Silky textures touch the palate first highlighting the core of fruit then contrasting acidity layers in texture and crispness. Refreshing, salty, salivating and ready to drink from 2021 through end of summer 2023" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Dec 2021
The 2021 Pinot Noir Rosé has a stunning bright pink colour that hints at the great concentration and precise, fresh aromas that will unfold in the glass. Intensely fragrant, the floral notes and bright red fruit sing beautifully of “classic” Central Otago Rosé. Enticing aromas of cherry, strawberry, and red apple are carried long on the palate by the fresh acidity. This is dry-style Rosé has amazing fruit weight that is perfectly balanced by tangy acidity making it a wonderful wine on its own and fantastic for summer cuisine and outdoor dining. With each new vintage, we set out to make a complex Rosé that is balanced and engaging - truly a kaleidoscope for the senses.
The 2020-2021 growing season had a relatively warm, dry spring with some late November frosts to fight, followed by good weather at flowering resulting in excellent yields. Some rain events over the Christmas holidays kept us on our toes but autumn returned to warm temperatures allowing consistent ripening. Lower acids at lower brix allowed us to pick early and achieve a dry-style Rose with perfectly balanced alcohol. We believe the 2021 vintage is one of the best in the last decade for making Rosé and white wines.
The e Pinot Noir grapes for the 2021 Wild Earth Pinot Noir Rosé were picked early in the season on the 25th of March using two clones: clone 5 for concentration and fruit purity, and 943 for freshness and acidity. The established vineyard in Pisa that was selected is a favorite of ours for growing fruit that creates Rosé that is dry, fresh and delicious. The hand harvested grapes were left on skins for 2 days before pressing. Plenty of pigment in the skins from a warmer season delivered a gorgeous strawberry-pink hue. The fermentation was relatively cool; predominately in stainless steel tanks with a small portion in older French oak. This wine spent a small amount of time on fermentation lees before bottling in spring.
