A complex Shiraz with fruit foward notes of plum and raspberries combined with toffee apple and pink peppercorn. The wine has soft even tannins on the palate finishing with bright aciditiy. Overall, outstanding purity of fruit and balance.
100% Shiraz grown in Western Barossa, which created a complex, intense and vibrant flavour profile in the wine.
2020 vintage was a dry summer with a hot January and February. This lead to a delayed and extended harvest which created vibrant colours and powerful fruit on the vines resulting in wines of power and elegance.
80% of the grapes were destemmed and fermented on skins for 8-12 days, 10% were whole bunch fermented and 10% had extended maceration for 40-50 days. Wine matured in 100% sesoned French oak for 10 months.
Beyond the single vineyard estates. Hentley Farm produce a portfolio of modern wines sourced from select vineyards across the Barossa including a range of wines under the Villain & Vixen label. As villains against convention they favour vixen-like elegance, textural wines with enhanced vibrancy of fruit and varietal characteristics.
