Description

  • Dry style
  • Fresh raspberry
  • Stonefruit
  • Mineral acidity

"Brightly fruited and elegantly fragrant, the bouquet shows Gala apple, nectarine, lemon peel and floral aromas with a touch of raspberry. It's juicy and vibrant on the palate offering terrific fruit purity backed by refreshing acidity, making it highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2022" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2021

Light blush pink in colour. Lifted notes of fresh raspberry and ripe stone fruit. Delicate berry fruit flavours are complemented by hints of peach and nectarine. The mid palate is textured, while the mineral acidity leaves the mouth watering. The finish is balanced and quenching.

Sourced from The Mound, Deans and Home Block vineyards in the Waipara Valley, with deep free draining Glasnevin gravels.

Growing conditions were excellent, starting off with a frost-free spring. Good flowering and fruit set followed, supported by warm conditions. The hot and dry North Canterbury summer ripened the fruit exceptionally. At the time of picking, the fruit was clean, healthy and bursting with concentrated flavours.

Pinot Noir fruit parcels were harvested in the cool of the morning, crushed and soaked on skins for 4 hours to develop colour and flavour. The drained juice was settled and racked before starting fermentation. Once the desired sweetness levels were reached, the ferment was cooled and stopped. The wine was then left on yeast lees for several weeks before removing from lees to retain the vibrancy of the fruit character. Finally the wine was fined using traditional methods and finished for bottling.

Food Pairing: Lightly chilled, with a grilled chicken and couscous salad.
