Description

  • Smooth French oak
  • Ripe stonefruit
  • Hazelnuts
  • Fine acidity

"Medium golden yellow with beautiful aromas of toasted oak, sweet spice, stone fruit, and subtle flinty notes. A weighty palate with a silky texture, stone fruit and ripe citrus characters are brightened by a dash of acidity and the very long finish is bursting with spice" Angie Atkinson, The Wine Writer, Nov 2021

"Splendidly fruited and inviting with ripe apricot, rockmelon, popcorn, roasted hazelnut and vanilla characters, it's flavoursome and plump in the mouth offering excellent fruit intensity and textured mouthfeel with an elegant oak influence. Smooth and soothing with generosity and complexity. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Nov 2021

The Kererü Chardonnay has aromas of ripe stonefruit and hazelnuts. A full, textured palate with layers of complexity, fine balanced acidity with a lingering finish. This will cellar for up to six years. Serve lightly chilled.

Kererü Chardonnay is hand harvested and whole bunch pressed, then fermented in French oak barriques to develop complex layers of flavour in a traditional Burgundian style. Following the primary and full malolactic fermentations, the wine is left to mature on gross lees in barrel for 9-10 months prior to bottling.

Chardonnay is sourced from Sileni’s Hawke’s Bay vineyards with a range of soil types including gravels, silt and clay loam. The different characteristics of these sites provide depth and complexity of flavour in the wines.

Food Pairing: Matches beautifully with fish, poultry and pasta with a light creamy sauce.
