"It's attractively savoury on the nose showing lemon zest, smoky bacon, oatmeal and herbaceous notes, leading to a lively palate that's juicy and vibrant. Firmly structured by racy acidity, finishing mouth-watering and lingering" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2021
A truly classic Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, that is brimming with vibrancy and vitality. Dense notes of ripe passionfruit dominate on the nose, supported by tropical fruit, herbaceous notes and a lashing of citrus. A portion of the malolactic fermentation adds a textural quality to the palate, with subtle notes of lemom blossom and passionfruit. The finish is refreshing, crisp and dry.
Made from 100% certified organic fruit, with portions from the Omaka Valley, Wairau Valley and Waihopai Valley.
After a mild winter, there was a period of quite heavy frost events that kept the vineyard team on their toes. After overcoming this, growth was great and consistent across the whole vineyard. During flowering, lower temperatures and rainfall did not allow all of the flowers to set and culminated in many flowers setting at different times. This resulted in markedly small bunches and a good deal of hen and chicken throughout the vineyard. During the last piece of the growing season, the weather was on their side and provided beautiful summer days yet cold nights that aided in retaining decent acidity, and extremely clean fruit which enabled the team to make picking decisions at exactly the right moment. They will remember this vintage as being one of the best yet for overall quality - full of flavours but very light on yeilds.
Certified organic grapes were harvested by machine in cool temperatures, during the month of March. The fruit was pressed, settled and the clear juice was then carefully racked into a variety of stainless-steel vessels. A long, cool fermentation proceeded to enhance the pure, distinctive flavours that are the hallmark of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. After a short period on lees, the wine was stabilised and filtered prior to bottling.
