Description

  • Dry style
  • Strawberries
  • Savoury spices
  • Crisp finish

"Bright and pristine, the wine shows crunchy apple, lemon peel, floral and sweet strawberry aromas on the nose, leading to a juicy palate displaying elegant weight and smooth flow. Well supported by refreshing acidity, making it immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2022" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2021

Attractive aromas of fresh strawberries, raspberries and red currants, along with hints of savoury spices, lead to fresh, crunchy red fruit flavours on the palate and a finish that is satisfyingly crisp and refreshing.

A blend of predominantly Cabernet Franc (42%) and Tempranillo (32%) grown in Gimblett Gravels with 17% Pinot Noir grown in Maraekakaho.

The 2020 growing season in Hawke’s Bay was characterised by a warm, long, dry summer and autumn with ripe fruit flavours arriving early in the harvest period.

The grapes were rapidly and gently pressed to produce an elegant, fruit driven wine with low phenolics. The juice was cold settled for clarification and then cool fermented in stainless steel tanks to maximize the retention of fruit character.

Food Pairing: Great drinking on its own or with salmon, poultry, and lighter red meat dishes. Serve chilled.
