"Brightly expressed and fruit intense, the wine shows Black Doris plum, blueberry, violet and subtle spice notes on the nose, leading to a flavoursome palate offering succulent fruit flavours and plump mouthfeel. Upfront and youthfully attractive" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2021
"Preservative Free is the new black. It seems like everyone is looking to drink a bit healthier, although the levels of preservative in most wines are so small they would not hurt a fly. But if Preservative Free is your thing then this shiraz is worth hunting down as, unlike many similar wines, it has had the Rolls Royce treatment in the winery and also shows the benefits of quality fruit. Deeply coloured there are layers of ripe and jubey blackberry and blackcurrant fruits with impressive intensity. It is equally bold on the palate with chocolatey flavours lifted by hints of pepper and earth all supported by balanced tannins. It’s got heart and offers very good value for Preservative Free" Angus Hughson, Winepilot, Nov 2021
Dark crimson in colour displaying attractive red fruit aromatics with a pronounced raspberry note, showing notes of chocolate and vanilla. This is a fresh and bright wine bottled immediately to capture the essence of the variety. On the palate it's vibrant with fruit purity, showing a good intensity and balanced by cleansing acids.
If 2020 was all about the heat, then 2021 will be remembered as the wet season. In many parts of Australia, it was unseasonably wet but not at critical times as to do damage to the growing season and the ripeness of the grapes. In fact an even ripening was achieved between dry and rainy spells and the ensuing fruit quality was excellent and for once yields were up making 2021 a bumper harvest.
Food Pairing: Pair with a homemade pork schnitzel.
