Description

  • Dry style
  • Raspberry & red cherry
  • Melon & stone fruit
  • Long fresh finish

"Fantastic hues of pink and raspberry, super bright and shiny leading to aromas of fresh red cherry and sweet cranberry, lots of raspberry and fresh red melon. Quite floral, vibrant and loaded with energy. On the palate - fresh, crunchy, fruity and dry with a core of fruit flavours that mirror the bouquet. Acidity and some super fine fruit tannins layer in a fine chalky mouthfeel contrasted by fruit. Balanced and well made, ready to drink from day of purchase and through 2023" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Aug 2021

A vibrant cool climate Pinot Noir Rosé, pale pink in the glass with aromas of strawberry and melon on the nose. The palate is lively with raspberry and stone fruit flavours, subtle creaminess and a long fresh finish.

The fruit for this Rosé is sourced from our Home vineyard Matahiwi and a neighbouring vineyard Waipipi. These vineyards are situated on a raised ridge of stony soil outside Masterton Wairarapa. The free draining soils and cool dry climate are ideal for ripening high quality Pinot Noir. In the vineyard we target certain blocks for Rose based on their ability to produce lifted fruit characters and retain fresh acidity. This wine is predominantly made from clone 10/5 and we leave a little bit more leaf on the fruit zone to save fine aromatics.

Winemakers harvested the fruit in a range of flavor spectrums to enhance the palette of vibrant fruit characters. The wine was pressed off soon after harvest to minimise extraction of colour and tannin and the juice immediately clarified. Fermentation occurred at low temperatures with a range selected yeast to capture vibrant aromatics. The component wines were blended early to maximize freshness and prepared for bottling.

Food Pairing: Excellent on its own or with seafood dishes like crayfish, prawns and Salmon.
