Description

  • French & American oak
  • Red & black fruits
  • Black olive
  • Smooth tannins

"Richly fruited and beautifully fragrant on the nose showing black/blueberry, floral, cedar, toasted spice and dark chocolate characters. The palate displays excellent concentration and plush mouthfeel, beautifully complemented by silken texture and loads of polished tannins, making it satisfying and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2032" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Dec 2021

Nicely intense and bright with juicy red and black fruits, interesting savoury notes and black olive. The palate is supple and mouth-filling driven long by fresh acidity and smooth tannins.

Sourced from a combination of established, dry-grown vineyards in central South Australia. Wines are made and matured by Jim Zerella in McLaren Vale. Summary: A partnership with our Adelaide Hills and Langhorne Creek growers, Burns & Fuller is a range of contemporary and fruit driven varietal wines made by Jim Zerella, Each wine is fruit-driven and balanced with a core of fruit given complexity by a barren aged component.

2020 had its challenges with a dry start and only a small portion of rain and with much of the country suffering drought conditions. The warm dry spell continued in December with some extreme hot temperature days recorded. It was a late ripening year and yields were down but despite the challenges it was another excellent vintage across South Australia.

The fruit is hand-harvested and vineyard sorted before de-stemming and cool fermentation in small two tonne open fermenters with regular hand plunging. Matured in seasoned French and American oak (30% new French) for nine months before bottling with minimal filtration and sulphur addition.

Food Pairing: Perfect with a lamb shanks and olive mash.

Excellent value for money. A fantastic easy drinking wine, fruit forward touch of spice towards the finish. This wine is served as a house wine at one of Australia's top private member clubs.

Lovely full-bodied Aussie Shiraz, with more than enough fruit weight to carry the 14.5% alcohol
