This version from Little Giant is unsurprisingly deep ruby in colour and displays those classic malbec characters – blackberry and ink which are lifted by a dusting of violets, earth and spice. A classic looking Malbec with a deep crimson colour in the glass. Dark berry aromas complemented by floral hints and a subtle sweet tobacco influence that is so typical of the variety. The palate is bursting with juicy black fruits, a touch of oak and a soft easy-going tannin structure 

The southern hairy-nose wombat is smaller than other wombats but is stocky, robust and the proud state emblem of South Australia. Like the might of the little wombat, Little Giant is crafted from premium regional South Australian fruit from established vineyards that deliver character and interest well above their size and weight. Hand-crafted and made with minimal additions and preservatives, these are wines made of the vineyard. The grapes are picked at optimal ripeness, minimally handled in the winery and fruit vibrancy is not hidden by non-essential artefact. Seeking first and foremost fruit expression, drinkability and to be a great accompaniment to food. Don’t let the size fool you, these are wines you’ll want to drink.

2020 had its challenges with a dry start and only a small portion of rain and with much of the country suffering drought conditions. The warm dry spell continued in December with some extreme hot temperature days recorded. It was a late ripening year and yields were down but despite the challenges it was another excellent vintage across many parts of Australia.

Machine harvested before grape sorting, in vineyard and winery, and complete de-stemming. Fermented in open stainless steel tanks at a cool temperature with hand plunging for seven to ten days. Primarily matured in stainless steel with around 20% matured in seasoned French oak.
