Description

A superb collection of some of Italy's finest award-winning wines! Silky smooth wines jam packed with rich fruit flavours and juicy acidity, this selection is perfect around the fire or taking center stage at the dinner table with a wide variety of hearty dishes.

Collection includes:

2 x Agricola Punica Isola Dei Nuraghi Montessu 2017 (Italy)

AWARDED 93/100 POINTs: James Suckling

"I love the glazed cherries and roasted herbs here, in addition to dried plums and licorice. Full-bodied and very sophisticated on the palate, where juicy and structured tannins frame the red fruit and acidity, carrying it long on the finish" James Suckling

Montessu was created to bring out the sensations and aromas of jam, ripe fruit, myrtle and juniper, which are typical of the region. Ageing is done in non-agressive barrels, two or three years old, for a period of no longer than 12 months. A deep violet color, the wine shows aromas of red fruits and Mediterranean aromatic herbs. In the mouth, the wine has full-bodied black fruit flavors, with soft, saline notes along with elegant traces of caper, rosemary and black pepper. The long finish is silky.

Food Pairing: Enjoy with roasted lamb & burratta.

Alc: 14.5%

2 x Monte Bernardi Retromarcia Chianti Classico DOCG 2018 (Italy)

AWARDED 94/100 POINTS: Decanter Magazine, Dec 2020

"A jewel, one of those wines you can drink with glorious abandon – or simply sit quietly to enjoy its subtle complexities. You can see your fingers holding the stem of the glass – Sangiovese, I am told, should never show up opaque, and is questionable if it does. But the wine is transparent also in that, in a single sip, you can sense the place, the much-loved vines, the classic galestro/albarese soil, the sun, the dappled shade on the well-cared-for canopy. Intelligent and delightful" Emily O'Hare, Decanter Magazine, Dec 2020

This wine is a deep ruby red in colour with hints of purple. Bouquet of intense mountain herbs, aromas of cranberry, wild cherry and red plums, anise, spice, and orange peel. It is fresh and fruity on the palate, medium-bodied, well balanced, with a nice structure, juicy acidity and a long finish.

Food Pairing: Typical Tuscan dishes and medium aged cheeses.

Alc: 13.5%

2 x Cantina Terlano Lagrein Gries Riserva 2018 (Italy)

AWARDED 94/100 POINTS: James Suckling, Jun 2021

"The alluvial soils in the Bolzano suburb of Gries are ideal for the indigenous red Lagrein wine, which is mentioned in a historical document dated 1379. Our Lagrein Gries is impressive for its fruity berry aromas as well as for its noble spicy notes and juicy balanced body" Rudi Kofler

Deep ruby to garnet red with a delicate shimmer of violet. The aroma reveals earthy, minerally notes masterfully underpinned with fruit components, with morello cherry, dark chocolate and plum jam dominating. These spicy and yet velvety fruit notes also intrigue the palate, where this Lagrein Riserva presents itself with multilayered opulence and great complexity.

Food Pairing: Combines well with roast chamois with root vegetables and with veal cheeks braised in Lagrein and served with root vegetables.
