Description

  • Sur lie
  • Stone fruit & melon
  • Ground almond
  • Rich & mouth-filling

"Calm, elegant and fragrant with aromas of peaches and whipped cream, vanilla and apple, wood smoke and nut. On the palate - full bodied expression with flavours in reserve of the nose - wood smoke and vanilla, apple and peach. A mix of wood tannins and medium+ acidity layer in mouthfeel and contrast while the core of fruits showcase the youth and freshness.  A balance and well made wine with plenty of length and lots of harmony. Best drinking from purchase and through 2025+" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jul 2021

"This is attractively fruited and nicely fragrant on the nose showing golden peach, pineapple, vanilla and roasted cashew notes, leading to a flavoursome palate that's succulent and smooth. Well supported by creamy texture and spicy nuances, making it delightfully appealing" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2021

The aromas are fresh and vibrant, displaying stone fruit and ground almond. Fresh layers of tropical melon and nectarine on the palate combined with generous, mouth filling weight and richness gained from 12 months barrel ageing sur lie. This wine is drinking well now but will cellar for up to ten years.

This wine is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown in the winemakers Riverview and Kinross vineyards in Hawkes Bay.

The grapes for this wine were hand harvested and transported to the Riverview winery. Some of the fruit was pressed direct to barrel where it was allowed to undergo wild fermentation.  Following fermentation, the wine was inoculated for Malolactic fermentation. After approximately 12 months in oak, the wine was transferred to our Katikati winery for finishing, fining, and bottling.

Food Pairing: Superb with chicken and creamy risotto, or smoked salmon.
