"This is gorgeously ripe and inviting, showing golden peach, fresh pear, fig and rich floral aromas on the nose, followed by a succulent palate that's beautifully rounded and smooth. It's fruit expressive and delightfully silky to the finish. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2020.
The fruit for this wine was hand picked from two separate sites on the Martinborough terraces. The first portion was whole bunch pressed, and racked directly to barrel where it underwent a spontaneous fermentation. The second portion was destemmed and held on its skins for 12 hours to extract flavour and phenolics. It was then pressed, settled for two days and racked to a stainless steel tank for a cool fermentation with cultured yeasts. After four months, the two portions were combined before protein stabilisation and filtration. The wine was bottled in September 2020.
Established in 1993, Alana Estate is a boutique winery nestled in the heart of the Martinborough township. Alana ffocusses on producing small batches of artisanal wine with a minimum of intervention in the wine making process.
