"The Soler range is positioned above Reserve and below Legacy in the Vidal range. Grown at three sites, including the famous Keltern Vineyard, the notably refined 2019 vintage (5*) was fermented and matured for 10 months in French oak barriques. Already highly approachable, it has a fragrant, slightly smoky bouquet. Full-bodied, it has strong, ripe stonefruit flavours, biscuity, mealy notes adding complexity, finely balanced acidity and a very harmonious, lasting finish. Best drinking 2022+" Michael Cooper
"I tasted this wine in April 2020 when it had just been released - or about to be. Since then - this wine has evolved and become more integrated and complex, detailed and fine. Aromas and flavours of heirloom peach and grapefruit, lemon and lees, a fine flinty mineral layer and fresh raw cashew nut oak quality. Complex, silky and delicious on the palate with a lovely balance between fruit and wood, acidity and baking spices of oak. Great length and finish - a fine wine. Best drinking from mid to late 2021 through 2024" Cameron Douglas, Mater Sommelier
"Gorgeously composed and tremendously appealing, the wine shows white flesh nectarine, rockmelon, nougat and roasted nut characters on the nose with a seductive whiff of gun smoke. The palate displays excellent weight and creamy mouthfeel, wonderfully complemented by succulent fruit intensity and discreet oak infusion. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit
"Ripe, yet punchy chardonnay from a very good vintage with a strong struck flint-reductive character adding complexity to peach, tree fruit, citrus and nutty yeast lees characters. An impressive, high-energy wine that promises to develop well in bottle" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review
The 2018/2019 growing season has produced a wine showing concentration, fragrance and restraint. Citrus, yellow stone fruit, roasted nuts and seductive flint combine on a finely styled and textured palate. Showing vibrancy, balance and background complexity this Chardonnay will continue to age gracefully over time.
The 2018/2019 growing season has produced a balanced, finely styled Chardonnay. Overall the season was warm with a total heat summation of 1,540 Growing Degree Days, well above the Long Term Average with only 2 years in the last 10 surpassing it. The key ripening months of January and February were warm and dry.
The season, combined with low crop yields, good flavour concentration and a careful selection allowed us to harvest fruit in excellent condition between the 7th and 17th of March. Naturally low vigour soils and and attention to detail in the vineyard across all aspects creates the opportunity to produce high-quality Chardonnay.
