Description

  • French & American oak
  • Cherry cola
  • Sweet & smoked spice
  • Supple tannins

"Wonderfully fruited and instantly appealing, the fragrant bouquet shows Black Doris plum, blueberry compote, floral, subtle spice and almond characters. It's equally satisfying on the palate with excellent fruit concentration and intensity, backed by silky mouthfeel and fine tannins, leading to a lengthy delicious finish. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Sep 2020

A lovely rendition of Rioja on the nose fragrant with sweet spice and pepper. The palate is bright and expressive with a burst of mouth-filling ripe berry flavours. Textbook varietal flavours of cherry cola and smoked spice flood the palate before supple tannins and subtle oak provide definition to the impressively long finish.

Castilla La Mancha: The vast, high and dry plains of Castilla la Mancha comprise over 50% of Spain’s vineyards. The ancient soils and high altitude ensures the richly flavoured fruit maintains structure and tannin. Vineyards planted on the slopes of mountain ranges in the north and north east add a degree of elegance to the wines.

2019 was considered a consistently even vintage with excellent fruit quality as a result but with yields down a fraction. Ripening was even and in no way rushed ensuring that berries could hang on the vines for more sunshine hours.

Totally de-stemmed with a short cold soak before a long, cool fermentation with daily pump - overs to achieve optimum fruit and colour. The core of the blend was aged in stainless steel before six months maturation in seasoned French and American oak.

Food Pairing: Pair with a meat-based paella with plenty of smoked paprika.
