Deep red with purple hues. Black Doris plums, cassis and Christmas cake spice. Some underlying umami notes of seaweed and toasted barrel nuance. Broad and rich with dark fruit flavours with a finely structured front palate phenolic profile.
All parcels were vinified using an adapted Burgundian approach. Malo-lactic fermentation is in barrel. Aging was in tight grain Burgundy barrels. 25% new, 25% one year, 50% two to four years old. 20 months maturation with one racking prior to Vintage 19.
Food Pairing: At room temperature with braised beef or Mediterranean lamb.

I prefer reds unsweet and dark in both colour and taste. This puppy isn't quite inky Bordeaux dark but dark enough and almost bitter in taste, in a good savoury way, with rich and slightly posh traits, its physically difficult to stop sipping. Great at $20, bonkers at $15, just ordered more.

Very convincing example of a Hawkes Bay Cab Franc/Merlot blend. A wine to be savoured rather than quaffed and terrific value for a wine offered with some age. Strong recommendation.

I was a bit disappointed with the first bottle even though I got it to temperature and aerated it however the second one was an excellent example of the Hawkes Bay Cab Merlot Marlbec that I like... don't know if that was me or bottle variation but if the rest are like the second bottle I'll be very happ
