Description

  • Off-dry style
  • Spicy pear
  • Lemon curd
  • Bright acidity

"Ripe, fleshy, fruity and varietal bouquet. Flavours of spicy pear and peach, some lemon and tart apple. A touch of white pepper and ginger spice along with honeysuckle and quince bring depth and complexity. Acidity and alcohol bring contrast and texture to the core of fruit. Balanced and well made with a fresh youthful finish" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jan 2021

The colour is deep lemon, with an inviting bouquet of ripe peach, nashi pear, and lemon curd, underlaid with mixed spice, honeysuckle, and a touch of flint. The mouthfeel is soft and rounded, supported by subtle sweetness and bright acidity that sets up for an impressively lengthy finish. Generous and flavourful yet delivered with finesse.

Unsettled weather over flowering resulted in a lighter than average set, meaning that no further fruit thinning was necessary. A classic North Canterbury Summer then enabled this smaller crop to mature beautifully. Accelerated ripening allowed harvest to take place slightly earlier than usual, and favourable autumn weather ensured the grapes were picked in perfect condition.

Main Divide is the local name for the Southern Alps and is the backbone of the South Island, where grapes for Main Divide are exclusively sourced. Vineyards have been selected for their quality and ability to express unique regional flavours.

I purchased a 6 bottle case of this quality wine for my extended family/friends for the Christmas/New year period and they polished off the lot in one night. That says it all.
