Description

  • French oak
  • Dark berry & plum
  • Cedar & toasted spice
  • Silken texture

"Flagship Pinot Noir with seamless cherry, dark berry, spice, anise and subtle oak flavours. An elegant, understated wine with surprising power and a silken texture. Very accessible now but should develop well with bottle age" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Jan 2021

"This is immensely complex and satisfying, showing dark cherry, cedar, toasted spice, vanilla and warm mushroom characters on the nose. It's wonderfully concentrated and sumptuous on the palate, while remaining elegant and sophisticated. The wine is splendidly layered with loads of delicious flavours. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2020

It has aromas of bright red fruits, plums and hints of spice. Ripe berry, smoky plum, violet and vanilla show on the palate with a long spicy finish. A great example of one of the best Central Otago Pinot Noirs – Best rewards are gained by careful cellaring.

Cromwell’s Wooing Tree, is a family owned single vineyard site, located in the heart of Central Otago, the wine region fast becoming known for its top quality Pinot Noir. For many thousands of years Cromwell has been subjected to sandstorms during strong NW winds. Wind blown sands form Cromwell’s unique habitat as one of the only inland sand dunes in New Zealand. The development of Wooing Tree vineyard created a few sandstorms of its own. Especially low yielding ripe hand picked fruit, gentle winemaking and extended maturation in French oak have resulted in a complex and powerful wine.
