Description
- Dry style
- White peach & pear
- Camomile flower
- Refreshing & crisp finish
"Bright, light yellow with a green hue, even colour throughout. The nose is soft, with the purity of apple, pear, underlined a hint of honey, lemon and floral. Medium-light bodied, fresh aroma of lemon zest, sugared grapefruit, apple and pear have a fine core, entwined with floral element and a light note of honey. The mouthfeel is smooth-flowing with an oily texture; acidity is seamless and integrated, flows along a savoury edge. This is a well-rounded Pinot Blanc with a fresh core of fruit, oily textured and a seamless acidity flow. Match with scallops and pork gyoza over the next 2 years. Fruit from a single vineyard alongside the Waihopai River, cool-fermented to 12.5% alc, 5 g/l RS, left on lees for a period of time. Vegan friendly" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Feb 2021
"Aromas are not too dissimilar to Pinot Gris with scents and flavours of apples and white fruits then citrus, a quieter softer spice layer, and a firm phenolic tension highlighting acidity then alcohol. Dry on the palate with a crisp acid line, flavours of citrus then tree fruits and a coarse satin texture. Lovely aperitif and food wine style. Drink now and through 2026" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Feb 2021
"Attractively fruited and elegantly fragrant, the bouquet shows golden peach, baked apple, rockmelon and subtle spice notes, followed by a smooth palate that's supple and lingering. Showing bottle matured complexity, making it a lovely food partner" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2021
Light straw colour in the glass. Delicate aromas of camomile flower, white peach and lemon zest. An elegant combination of ripe white peach, pear drops and fresh lemon peel with a refreshing and crisp finish. A crisp and refreshing Pinot Blanc showing elegant citrus notes. Ready for immediate enjoyment and will elegantly evolve over the next five years.
Pinot Blanc is the white mutation grape of Pinot Noir and is an elegant, aromatic variety. Selected from a single vineyard and grown on soils with a clay underlay and free-draining river stones on the surface. A maritime influence with hot days and cool nights plays an important role in maintaining the acidity and flavours within the grapes. The 2018 vintage started with cool Spring weather, which extended the length of flowering, leading to to open bunches with reduced potential for disease pressure during the early Autumn rains.
During a cool evening, the vineyard was machine harvested and the grapes quickly transported to the winery to be pressed. The juice was fermented at cool temperatures to retain aromatics and fruit flavours. The juice was then left on the lees to add extra depth, texture and complexity to the wine. The wine was then gently fined prior to bottling.
Food Pairing: An ideal match with pan-fried scallops, or Marlborough mussels.
