Description

  • Citrus flavours
  • Yeasty complexity
  • 8 years aging
  • Unique

"Brilliant, medium golden-yellow, aged appearance, slightly lighter on edge. Consistent and moderate fine bead. The nose is soft, penetrating aromas of stonefruit, citrus, unfolding development of nut, soft caramel intermixed creamy lees autolysis. Medium-full bodied, dry to taste, the palate is well-packed with aromas of dried apricot, preserved lemon, along with unintrusively subtle notes of almonds, dry caramel, toasty details, flow on a matured, creamy palate. The palate has good tension, supported by mellowed taut acidity, shows vitality; vibrant acidity carries the wine to a jasmine-tea fragranced long finish. This is an elegantly developed Blanc de Noir Methode Traditionelle with flavours of dried apricot, preserved lemon with tension and subtly nutty, toasty development. Match with roasted pigeon and quail over the next 3-5 years. Pinot Noir grape aged in barrel underwent MLF. Second fermentation in the bottle, aged on lees for 3 years" Candice Chow, Raymond Chan Reviews, Dec 2020

Wrights Vineyard and Winery have been producing Methode Traditionnelle wines since 2001. They have just launched their 2012 Vintage Methode, with 8 years bottle age, prior to disgorgement, Oct 2020.

The wine has some great citrus flavours with a definite yeasty complexity which you would expect with 8 years aging on yeast lees in the bottle.

Its a must try and a crowd pleaser with only 1600 bottles made and each bottle numbered. If you are looking for something unique and original then Wrights Vintage Methode Traditionnelle you should try.

The wine is made from a selection of varieties from their original vineyard planted in Ormond Valley appellation.
