"Richly fruited and immediately appealing, the wine shows apricot, poached pear, mango and subtle spice characters on the nose. It's equally satisfying on the palate, offering terrific fruit power together with fleshy texture, finishing delectably long and attractive" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2019

Rich notes of tropical fruits that span the spectrum from apricot to pineapple. There is also a lifted floral and citrus note, similar to orange blossom, which adds delicacy and fineness. Some background vanilla and brioche notes from the Fuder add extra interest. The palate is full bodied and rich with a very plush texture. Palate flavours of canned peach and suggestions of Turkish Delight all contribute interest. These layers of richness come mainly from perfectly ripened grapes allowing for some residual sugar in the wine, and the contribution of the one year old German Fuder and warm fermentation temperatures.

Theory & Practice wines are made by winemaker Ant Mackenzie working in partnership with selected Hawke’s Bay growers. This range of wines showcase the best qualities of the Hawke’s Bay wine region.

All fruit was machine harvested and pressed to tank. After 48 hours of settling the clear juice was transferred to 1 x 1000L German oak Fuder (45%) and tank (55%). Fermentation was undertaken with a combination of natural vineyard yeasts along with some inoculated yeasts. After nine months of aging the barrels and tank were blended and the wine bottled.

Food Pairing: Enjoy this wine in casual settings and with summer salads.

Great wine for a good price. Not acidic at all, which I like. Have already bought again!

Really enjoyable, great fruity flavor goes well with lighter summer meals or really cold with nibbles. Always surprised how good these mystery wines are

Denise - 29/11/2021

Nice drop. Full bodied.

Christabella - 13/09/2021

Would give 4.5 if aloud smooth and slightly too sweet

Bruce - 02/09/2021

This is a mystery wine but the label is mentioned in the 3rd to last paragraph of BM's wine description . Also interesting that Sam Kim rated this 2020 vintage 5 stars back in August 2019!! That aside its a mouthfilling wine, peachy and slightly spicy and a bit more complexity than some of the pure fruit driven styles.

John - 23/08/2021

Great wine

Ken - 17/08/2021

Pleasantly surprised with the quality. One of the better buys!!

David - 30/07/2021

I love a mystery wine that surprises and this one is just that. Love the classic Pinot Gris colour and taste. It's a goodie and just ordered another case.

Keith - 30/07/2021
