Description

  • French oak
  • Ripe stone fruit
  • Vanilla & roasted nut
  • Creamy mouthfeel

"Beautifully ripe and inviting, the bouquet shows yellow peach, rockmelon, vanilla and roasted nut characters, followed by a succulent palate that delivers excellent weight and rounded mouthfeel. It's creamy and flavoursome, making it fabulously drinkable. At its best: now to 2023" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2020

Medium straw colour with green hints. Ripe nectarine and peach notes on the nose. Savoury fermentation nuances along with the creamy vanilla characters from the barrels support the fruit and bring complexity to the wine. The palate is full bodied and rich with a broad, slippery texture. Browned butter, toasted cashew and canned peach notes all add interest. These layers of richness come mainly from perfectly ripened grapes, sweet French oak barrels and warm fermentation temperatures. The finish is long and rich.

Most of the fruit was machine-picked in the early hours of the morning and tipped directly into the press. The grapes were gently pressed to extract only the fi nest juice. After 12 hours of settling the cloudy juice was transferred to French oak barrels-35% were new. Fermentation was undertaken with a combination of natural vineyard yeasts along with some inoculated yeasts. All barrels underwent malo-lactic fermentation. After 10 months of aging the barrels were blended and the wine bottled.

Food Pairing: Enjoy this wine with a wide range of poultry and seafood dishes.

I continue to buy this wine. It hits the spot for a hawkes bay chardonnay. Fruity, buttery, with a long finish. Great summer wine.
