Description
- American wood
- Floral notes
- Ripe dark berries
- Bold acidity
"Lovely bouquet of dark wood spices, smoke, plums and dark berries. Suggestions of violets, dry earth, stones and licorice add depth, complexity and a little intrigue. On the palate - medium+ weight, very textured then woody, fruity and dry. Flavours from the bouquet rush through the palate accentuated by firm chalky textured tannins and bold acidity. Lengthy youthful finish. Decant for service please. Best drinking from 2021 through 2026" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier
A dark ruby in colour in the glass with lifted aromatics of wood shavings, bramble fruit and florals. Deft palate weight, with ripe dark berry flavours and silky tanins. Plush Merlot provides a generous base to spicy Malbec and serious, elegant Cabernet, this dark-hued blend is expressive and intriguing with red fruit, smoky hints and a seamless finish. 49% Merlot, 26% Cabernet, 25% Malbec.
The 2016 growing season saw a number of frost events, all well mitigated. Early shoot thinning resulted in balanced canopies and crop levels. The season had a slow start, followed by particularly warm Summer and Autumn period. Humidity needed to be monitored closely. A vintage which required good management, which was well rewarded.
