  • Vibrant acidity

"Gorgeously styled and expressed, the elegantly lifted bouquet shows apricot, poached pear, Gala apple and subtle spice notes with a hint of oatmeal complexity. It's concentrated and beautifully rounded on the palate, delivering silky texture backed by vibrant acidity, making it brilliantly structured and immensely appealing. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Jan 2021

A very aromatic Pinot Gris with fantastic cool climate freshness. The palate is laden with fruit flavours including pear, white peach and citrus. A beautifully textured mid-palate is complimented by a vibrant acidity that runs through the wine giving it drive and length.

Parcels of fruit were hand-picked from a vineyard planted in 2001 in the Gibbston sub-region. Grapes were brought into the winery when the site achieved both flavour and phenolic ripeness. Whole bunches were loaded into the press and the juice gently extracted over a three hour cycle with no press cuts. The juice was settled in tank overnight before being racked to neutral barrel (10%) and a stainless steel tank (90%). The stainless steel ferment was kept relatively cool at 16 degrees whilst the barrels were left to their own devices reaching warmer temperatures which is particularly important for a drier style of wine. The wine in barrel was kept on lees for 2.5 months with no stirring and the stainless component was racked off gross less post fermentation. The essence of the low yielding 2020 season was captured, with the resulting wine being complexly layered with great ageing potential and endless food pairing possibilities.
