Description

These little-big hitters have easily become some of our most popular and sought after Australian reds.

Stocky, robust and the proud state emblem of South Australia - like the might of the little wombat, Little Giant is crafted from premium regional South Australian fruit from established vineyards that deliver character and interest well above their size and weight. Hand-crafted and made with minimal additions and preservatives, these are wines made of the vineyard. Don’t let their size fool you, these are wines you’ll want to drink!

Collection includes:

2 x Little Giant Barossa Shiraz 2018 (Australia)

awarded silver medal: New Zealand International Wine Show, 2020

AWARDED 93/100 POINTS & 5 STARS: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2020

"Delightfully fruited and immediately appealing, the bouquet shows black/blueberry, subtle spice, cocoa and toasted nut characters. It's wonderfully weighted and flavoursome on the palate, delivering fleshy mouthfeel and silky tannins, leading to a lengthy soothing finish. At its best: now to 2025" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2020

The Barossa Valley makes up the majority of the fruit source with typical plum, red licorice, chocolate and mocha characters whilst the addition of the spicier, elegant fruit of the cooler Eden Valley has added lift, interest and freshness. This is a contemporary Barossa Shiraz having spent maturation time in older oak adding subtle vanilla and earthy nuance. There’s softness on the finish while maintaining freshness and vibrancy.

Food Pairing: Pair with a classic roast beef and horseradish.

1 x Little Giant McLaren Vale Grenache 2020 (Australia)

AWARDED Gold Medal: New Zealand International Wine Show 2020

AWARDED 94/100 POINTS & 5 STARS: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2020

"Youthfully fruited and instantly appealing with perfumed aromas of sweet berry and floral with a hint of fragrant spices. The beautifully weighted palate is both elegant and generous with succulent fruit intensity and flowing mouthfeel, finishing gorgeously long and velvety. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2020

The Little Giant Grenache just keeps getting better. A wine that is both mouth-filling yet medium weight with ripe fruited intensity. Vital red and dark berry fruit underpinned by hints of chocolate and integrated oak. The palate delivers tight-knit tannins and ensures a lasting flavour of berries, vanilla and freshly ground spices.

Food Pairing: Perfect with lamb souvlaki and spicy cous cous.

Alc: 14.5%

2 x Little Giant Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 (Australia)

AWARDED 94/100 POINTS & 5 STARS: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2019

"A gorgeous expression of the variety; the inviting bouquet shows blackcurrant, dark plum, cedar and vanilla characters with a touch of tobacco. The palate is equally satisfying with succulent fruit intensity, backed by supple mouthfeel and fine, chalky tannins. Flavoursome and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2026" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, May 2019

Vibrant bright crimson red with deep purple hues. Showing a lifted perfumed nose of blackcurrant and mulberry fruit and followed by a chocolate oak with subtle spice character. The palate shows dark berry fruit flavours upfront with hints of nutmeg and subtle herb and red florals in the finish. Supple varietal tannins give classical framework and weight to the wine which finishes with integrated fruit and oak driving a long finish.

Sourced from two vineyards that were planted with one on black and the other on red soils of the famed Coonawarra. All the fruit was picked during the early morning to retain colour and flavour retention and then crushed and fermented for a period of up to 10 days. Following primary fermentation the wine was pressed off into a small parcel of new but mostly into older oak for malolactic fermentation and maturation where it was held for a period of 10 months prior to blending and bottling.

Alc: 14.5%

1 x Little Giant Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir 2019 (Australia)

AWARDED 91/100 POINTS & 4.5 STARS: Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2020

"Combining sweet fruit notes with attractive complexity, the wine shows dark plum, raspberry, floral and roasted nut characters with a hint of warm spicy overtone. It's silky and supple on the palate with delightful fruit richness, backed by velvety tannins, finishing long and delectable. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Oct 2020

Great Pinosity on offer here, showing regional character and imbued with complexity found in the Adelaide Hills. There’s vivid strawberry and cherry aromas on the nose enhanced by an earthy intensity and a subtle whole bunch character. Great balance of sweet and savoury fruit on the palate with a complexing length that displays cleansing acidity with soft tannins and a lasting finish.

I discovered these guys in a supermarket while away and couldn’t get them at home, lovely drop.

These little guys have big flavour. Definitely a wine to share with friends. Perfect with a medium rare steak. Cellar for a couple of more years if you can.
