Description
- Youthful
- Dark cherry
- Almond
- Refreshing
"Youthfully fruited and attractively complex at the same time, the wine shows dark cherry, floral, thyme and toasted almond characters on the nose with a hint of gamey nuance. It's juicy and beautifully rounded on the palate with elegant weight and fine texture, well structured by fine grainy tannins, finishing firm and lingering" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Mar 2020
"Hawke’s Bay has arguably the most diverse range of climate types in New Zealand when it comes to grape growing, which means it can ripen a wide range of grape varieties, including the cool climate loving Pinot Noir. This new Lost Garden Pinot Noir is dry, light bodied and pale in colour with fresh vibrant red berry aromas and flavours of red fruit. It’s a wine to drink now rather than to cellar but will hold for two to three years as a lively, refreshing expression of all that’s great and good about the thin skinned Pinot Noir grape" Joelle Thomson, May 2020
"Bright, even medium ruby-red colour, lighter on edge. The nose is fresh and straightforward with attractive ripened blackberries, confectionary cherry ripe and a fine layer of subtle spices. Medium-bodied, tightly bounded flavours of juicy berry and cherry form a concentrated core of fruit, along with mouthwatering acidity with good drive and energy. There is a fine extraction of smooth tannin grip, contribute a firmness and tension. The palate carries through a concentrated blackberry and cherry note along with spices of nutmeg and cinnamon. This medium weight, fresh and lively Pinot Noir has concentration and tightly driven flavours of cherry and blackberry along with subtle spices notes, supported by a smooth grip of tannin aspect. Serve with antipasto and charcuterie over the next 2 years" Candice, Raymond Chan Reviews, Jun 2020
"Varietal, youthful and forward with aromas of red berries and soft brown oak spices, red flowers and crumbled stone soil notes. Moderately complex. On the palate - fruity with flavours that reflect the nose - cherry and red currant, cranberry then red flowers, smoky oak and brown spice. Firm (ish) textured tannins and medium+ acidity add a strong foundation for the wine to blend together and harmonise flavours and texture. Overall a nice example, well made and ready to enjoy from 2021 through 2025" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier, Jun 2020
"This Central Hawke’s Bay-grown pinot noir is intensely aromatic, infused with bay leaf, cherry, blueberry and a bunch of bright, vibrant spicy layers to boot. Floral and tightly coiled on the palate, it’s a raspberry-stacked style that will unfurl itself over the next year or two. Hawke’s Bay pinot noir has its own earthy, dried herb character, particularly those from the limestone and argillite soils of Central Hawke’s Bay, and so I’m sure the Lost Garden will be discovered pretty quickly" Yvonne Lorkin, Jun 2020
A youthful purple/ruby colour precedes captivating aromas of ripe strawberries and black Doris plums, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. The wine is lively and supple in the mouth with juicy raspberry/black cherry flavours, hints of sweet spices and cedar, framed by silky tannins with a succulent, spicy finish. A charming, exotically perfumed Pinot Noir that will seduce you from the very first sip.
Lost Garden captures the fantastic ripe, fresh and vibrant flavours of Hawke’s Bay fruit, combined with complimentary winemaking, to produce a range of wines that are highly approachable, delicious and enjoyable to drink.
Food Pairing: Serve with antipasto and charcuterie.
