"Gorgeously fruited and intensely aromatic, the wine shows feijoa, passionfruit, green rockmelon and lime peel characters on the nose. It’s equally satisfying on the palate, delivering excellent concentration and persistency, brilliantly complemented by fine texture and refreshing acidity" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2020
Succulent, ripe flavours of passionfruit, tropical fruit and black currant are balanced with crisp acidity and a distinct salty minerality, which combine to create a mouth watering finish. This wine is the definition of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
Perfect weather over flowering in the spring of 2019 produced unprecedented berry numbers. Fortunately, the driest summer on record then suppressed the berry growth. By harvest time, berry size was small to moderate, which has given the wines substantial structure. Late summer brought Marlborough’s trademark cooler nights, that are so important to their aromatic qualities and retention of acidity. The introduction of a nationwide lockdown to slow the spread of COVID-19 coincided with the beginning of their harvest. There was a very real possibility that the industry would face a shutdown, preventing them from harvesting their fruit. Their vineyard and winery teams moved incredibly fast to adhere to the very strict distancing and hygiene protocols to allow them to continue to operate.
The Sauvignon Blanc for this wine is grown in the lower Wairau Region, from the Dillons Point and Wairau subregions, known for expressive aromatics and ripe fruit flavour. After harvest, the fruit was taken straight to their winery, located in the lower-Wairau valley. The proximity to their vineyards minimise skin contact prior to pressing, allowing them to capture all the expressive fruit flavour. After pressing, the juice was cool fermented in stainless steel to retain the vibrant fruit flavours.

Not as enjoyable as some I have had for the same price. However I am not a connoisseur.
