“Estate-grown at a high-altitude site at Bendigo, in the Cromwell Basin, the impressive 2016 vintage was matured for a year in French oak barriques (25 per cent new). Deep ruby, with a fragrant, spicy, savoury bouquet, it is mouthfilling and sweet-fruited, with concentrated, vibrant cherry, plum and spice flavours, revealing excellent complexity, and good tannin support. A lovely young red, approachable now, it should be at its best 2021+" Michael Cooper, Buyers Guide

“Sweetly fruited and immediately appealing, the wine shows dark cherry, Black Doris plum, cedar, game and mushroom characters on the nose, leading to a concentrated and splendidly weighted palate that is fleshy and silky. It is generous and flavoursome, while remaining harmonious and structured, finishing persistent and delectable. At its best: now to 2024" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit

This 2016 Pinot Noir has powerful aromas of red fruit, dark plums and coco. The ripe fruit notes are carried through to this punchy, vibrant palate. Sour cherrys hit the back of the palate whilst chewy tannins give a satisfying finish.

The fruit is de-stemmed into open top French cuves where it cold soaks for a week before it spontaneously ferments lasting about three weeks. It is then pressed off into a mixture of seasoned and new (25%) French oak, where it matures for 12 months before bottling, without filtering or fining. Clones: Abel, 115, 777, 5 & 667.

Food Pairing: Delicious with roasted or other cooked beetroot dishes or those that include cherries or figs.
