"Nicely made Pinot Noir with cherry, dried herb, wood smoke and spicy oak flavours. A supple, medium-bodied wine, with a pleasingly silken texture making it very approachable now" Bob Campbell, Master of Wine, Real Review, Feb 2020

"Vibrant, varietal, spicy and savoury bouquet. Equally vibrant and intense on the palate with ripe red plum and dark cherry, tart cherry, some red apple, baking spices and dried red flower flavours. Abundant acidity and firm tannins add a crisp edge to the structure. Balanced, dry finish. A youthful wine requiring more settling in time to show its true and complete story. Drinking best from early 2021 through 2027" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

Raspberry, red cherry and lovely floral notes combine with a touch of sweet, spicy oak to give complex and inviting aromas in this Pinot Noir. The palate is supple and concentrated and has great depth while showing lovely varietal flavours of boysenberry, blueberry, mocha and underlying, subtle savoury notes. Cellar from four to six years onwards.

The grapes are destemmed and crushed and the juice cold-soaked for about ten days to help develop the primary fruit characteristics, specifically black plum and cherry flavours. During fermentation, the cap is hand-plunged up to four times a day to extract flavour, colour and tannin.  The wine is then matured in French oak barrels (25% new) for ten months, to enhance and complement more savoury, spicy flavours and then left to develop in bottle for a further six months before release.

Food Pairing: Lamb, venison, duck, pheasant, pork belly, turkey, seared tuna, hot ham, boeuf bourguignon, Coq au Vin, rare beef, dishes with rosemary and other strong herbs, mushrooms, cassoulet, beetroot, and seared spiced salmon.

D
I think the professional reviews were a bit generous! Nice wine at a good price (for what was a poor Marlborough vintage).

Dave - 19/10/2020

Slightly disappointed with the taste. Lacked full body finish. Price slightly in the high side.

Stephen - 16/09/2020

P
A bit sharp but a few more years in the bottle might soften it. Relatively cheap for a pinot.

Paul - 16/09/2020

T
A good Pinot without being a standout. However at the price excellent value

Tony - 15/09/2020

Pleasant but not a lot of depth to this wine

Neil - 14/09/2020

Nice n easy, lovely light style burgundy (whoops not meant to use that word, sorry). Could be a lunch time stunner, summer with a little chilling.

Andy - 10/09/2020

O
Nice but not as smooth as I would have thought. Slightly tart and dry.
