Description

  • Dry style
  • Exotic florals
  • Red cherry & strawberry
  • Juicy acidity

"Translucent ruby red appearance with aromas of raspberry and dark red cherry, violets and rose. Juicy, fresh and very fruity with flavours of raspberry and cherry, plenty of red apple, flowers and fine fruit tannins. A lovely standalone drink with plenty of food pairing opportunities. Lovely balance and finish, drink now and through 2021" Cameron Douglas, Master Sommelier

"The complexity in our 2020 Rua Pinot Rosé comes from diverse vineyard selection across two sub regions - Bannockburn and Pisa. The Pisa vineyards brings energy and tension to the acid structure; and the Bannockburn vineyards contribute fruit richness and character. The parent material of the soil here is schist; ground up over time, giving the wine a spine of minerality and glacial purity" Winemaker

A wildly exotic floral bouquet of jasmine, lily, magnolia and rose, with ripe strawberries, watermelon and cardamom. The centre palate is creamy and concentrated with fine skin tannins and balancing bright and juicy acidity.

Higher winds and cooler temperatures through Oct to early January affected flowering and fruit set, leading to variation in ripening across the estate and lower natural yields. Summer arrived briefly in February and helped lift the seasons growing degree days (GDD) and earlier disease concerns were alleviated by the third driest March seen since 1985 (only 6mm fell). Our fruit arrived to the winery from March the 12th until April the 28th in excellent condition. Some similarities to the growing season of 2017 have been noted, spurring discussion amongst the team of another year of exceptional, award-winning wines!
