Description

  • Seasoned oak
  • Red & black fruit
  • Mouth-filling
  • Supple tannins

"It’s wonderfully ripe and perfumed on the nose showing mulberry, dark plum, clove and spicy oak characters with a hint of dark cocoa. The palate delivers excellent weight and plump mouthfeel, well supported by fleshy texture and rounded tannins, making it immediately appealing and delightfully drinkable. At its best: now to 2029" Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, Aug 2020

Nicely intense on the nose and palate with juicy red and black fruits, hints of fresh leather and black olive tapenade. The palate is generous and mouth-filling driven long by fresh acidity and supple tannins. A serious wine suitable for all occasions – ready to drink now or cellar for a few years.

Sourced from a combination of established, dry-grown vineyards in central South Australia and low-yielding McLaren Vale vineyards. Wines are made and matured by Jim Zerella in McLaren Vale.

The fruit is hand-harvested and vineyard sorted before de-stemming and cool fermentation in small two tonne open fermenters with regular hand plunging. Matured in seasoned French and American oak (30% new French) for nine months before bottling with minimal filtration and sulphur addition.

Notably dry with minimal rain. Rainfall was below average through spring, summer and into harvest. This meant local producers had to ensure irriga􀆟on was used to sustain their crops. As a result, yields were down but the best growers and vignerons were pleased with the quality.

A partnership with Adelaide Hills and Langhorne Creek growers, Burns & Fuller is a range of contemporary and fruit driven varietal wines made by Jim Zerella, Each wine is fruit-driven and balanced with a core of fruit given complexity by a barren aged component.

Food Pairing: Perfect with a lamb roast and all the trimmings.
